Very weel done movie. The subject is brutal, but the movie is good. Worth watching!

It illustrates clearly how a psychopathic narcissist selects his network of followers from former victims of abuse who are living in a state of CPTSD/narcissism, and is able to "heartwash" (as the Chinese say) them into turning on their…

Yep. Yep. Yep. I'd say that for anyone to give this hunk-of-sh*t movie more than a 1.5-star rating, they'd have to be seriously dysfunctional in the brain especially when you consider that (1) they don't offer anything of any worthwhile…

Yes, this is a very unpleasant film, but it is about unpleasant people that prey on the down and out denizens of a culture that few people bother thinking about. Consider the greater Vancouver area's "Pickton Murders" of a few years ago -…

(In a "serial killer" nutshell) - Not only do I view this hideous, sadistic-minded, Australian production as being the ultimate "feel bad" movie of all-time. But, its horrible characters (one and all) made American white-trash look like…

First off - I have to say that I would never, ever trust the movie recommendations and/or opinions of anyone who would willingly give this piece of cinematic slop more than a 1-star rating. 'Cause for anyone to rate it higher would mean…

Apart from a millisecond of good acting by some newcomer found at a shopping mall, Snowtown is a boring Australian film about rednecks killing each other in crappy houses in garbage strewn suburbs. As a film it proves that the…

Directed by Justin Kurzel in 2011 based on the true story of the Snowtown murders, this Australian docudrama delves into the serial murder case. I don't really care if it's rooted in truth or not, but the film appears profoundly…

Hovering somewhere between documentary realism and disjointed nightmare, Justin Kurzel’s recounting of serial killer John Bunting’s exploits in South Australia during the 1990s is one of the more horrifying works of cinema you’re likely to…

This is a disturbing film but very well acted. The Australian accent is quite thick so I had a hard time understanding a fair amount of the dialogue. I watched it a second time and caught much more of it so be aware of that. It's based on…

Australian films, especially crime dramas, have the reputation of being blunt and bleak, but The Snowtown Murders potentially out-bleaks them all. At the same, this is not a showy film. The film makers know this world and shows it the way…

Harsh and atmospheric, this is definitely difficult to watch as the tension builds. The actors make it so real--you become absolutely sold of their authenticity. Excellent work. I just cannot give five stars as it is such a terribly bleak…

If you had been in Australia when this came to trial, this movie doesn't even touch on the horror of the crimes. Documents of testimony were hidden from the public for years, speculation ran rampant, and when the truth came out it was much…

Very bleak movie but well worth the time. Slow building storyline with very nuanced performances by the 2 male leads and the mother. Based on the true subject matter that it is based, this movie is not for the faint of heart. This movie is…

We now know how serial killers are created. Anyone who likes to kill animals for the fun of it needs to watch this movie. I could not.

A very very hard movie to watch. Disturbing and quietly realistic in feel. But if you can stomach the subject and the psychological (true) horror of this story it is more than well worth it.

Dramatization of the Australian 'bodies in barrels' murderers (the leader even resembled Charles Manson); Australian 'bodies in barrels' murderers are sentenced to ... The murders were committed during a 20-month killing spree between 1997…

Well acted and sometimes hard to watch movie that offers a perspective into the ways in which a charismatic psychopath can gain dedicated followers . I would have liked a bit more dialogue so that the plot was easier to follow in the…

A young man is seduced into becoming involved in Australia’s most infamous murder/torture groups. This film won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes’ Critics Week. Warning! Highly brutal and intense, but an important portrait of how these…

Bleak, sadistic biopic. Well made, but the brutality is unnerving, and the subject matter as a whole is really depressing. Sick people in this world.

Quite realistic telling of the true story of a really sick bunch of people. Not an evening of light entertainment by any stretch of the imagination.
