I really enjoyed this. It's The Da Vinci Code meets Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It's very plotty, detailed but not so detailed that anything is lost, and is based in rather recent history (in this case the Bosnian War. It really is very well thought out and I can't wait to see what comes from the rest of this trilogy.

Two very strong female leads are present as well. Kat Tapo is a police officer and Holly Boland is part of the US Army. Both women bring very different ideas of female characters, especially considering the careers they have both chosen, but both are very real and very valid. Especially with Kat Tapo and her relations with her boss and where that takes her.

Daniele is also fascinating. We barely get to see much of him in relation to other people so I'm keen to see where he goes next. His world of computers, and systems, and hacking is relatable to almost everyone in some way, even his reclusiveness in some ways.

This books has politics, history, religion, police work, a mystery, and all set across the backdrop of Venice, Italy. I actually can't remember the last time I read a book set in Italy for the entire time so that was nice. Educational as well.

Suffice to say you should read it and I cannot wait for the rest!
