"After four years in Iraq, Conrad Farrell returns to Katonah, New York, and he's beginning to learn that something has changed in his landscape. Something has gone wrong, though things should be fine: he hasn't been shot or wounded; he's never had psychological troubles. Add a CommentI thought the author did an excellent job of seeing through the eyes of a war veteran who attempts to transition back into civilian life. His struggles & flashbacks seemed to be much like what real life veterans ex-perience when they return from Iraq & Afghanistan. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book.
An utterly absorbing book - I was swept into the story of this Marine's fierce struggles to adapt to life back in the US. (after his four years serving in Iraq), and moved to tears by the end. I feel I understand a little more why my grandfather would never speak about his experiences in WW One. More needs to be done to help soldiers returning to civilian life!
