The Numbers of Hope

A twenty-six word parade of hope: beginning with God, ending with life, and urging us to do the same. Brief enough to write on a napkin or memorize in a moment, yet solid enough to weather two thousand years of storms and questions. If you know nothing of the Bible, start here. If you know everything in the Bible, return here. We all need the reminder. The heart of the human problem is the heart of the human. And God's treatment is prescribed in John 3:16:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

He loves. He gave. We believe. We live.

This book is not one of Max Lucado's better books (see: Grace).

This book contains way too much fluff and filler (as evidenced by the "3:16ed Life" found at the end of the book), with Scriptural references used to make the same point within the same chapter (and this occurred on multiple occasions).

The topic of 3:16 while worth exploring and discussing is more of a doctoral dissertation than it is a 200+ page book.

While I would not recommend this book, at the same time I would not dissuade readers from reading it for themselves and drawing their own conclusions about the book.

An absolute wonderful read. It offers encouragement to those who are already living the "3:16ed" life and presents the gift wonderfully to those who need to receive it. Read it, receive it, and share it with someone in need of a life-changing experience!

Just finished reading 3:16. Would definitely do it again. At first your not sure how many ways you can break the 3:16 biblical verse down and keep from being repetitive, but Max does so. The writer gives you insight into one of the most taken for granted passages of the bible. A short 40 day devotional at the end.
