Magical realism and murder mystery combine to create an amazing book that will keep you thinking long after you've put the book down. Rich in atmosphere, this Australian book weaves magic into the life of Rose, a 15-year-old girl struggling with an alcoholic father. She finds solace and comfort in an old dressmaker's house in the woods where she learns to sew. The past, present, and future of the characters intertwine in stories told as the teenager and rumored town witch hand-stitch the dress out of a midnight blue fabric in the decaying home. Swift plot twists and turns will keep you guessing as to the fate of the girls in the story.

This book is stupid. The characters come out of nowhere, the plot is so boring you'll want to stab your eyes out with a stick, and it keeps you wondering for so long that I gave up on it and returned it without a second thought. It really isn't worth your time to read this book. Don't get it. It's bad. It could turn a nun into an ax murderer it's so boring. Just save yourself.
