The master of suspense returns with a cutting-edge tale that pits his heroes Sean Dillon and Sara Gideon against the nuclear ambitions of Iran.
An eminent Iranian scientist has made a startling breakthrough in nuclear weapons research, but he can't stand the thought of his regime owning the bomb. He would run if he could, but if he does, his family dies. He is desperate; he doesn't know what to do.

It is up to Sean Dillon and the rest of the small band known as the Prime Minister's private army to think of a plan. Most particularly, it is up to their newest member, an intelligence captain and Afghan war hero named Sara Gideon, who thinks there just might be a way to pull it off.

But plans have a way of encountering  the unexpected. And as the operation spins out, from Paris and Syria to Iran and the Saudi Arabian desert, there is very much that is unexpected indeed. And much blood that will be spilled.

Something of an improvement over more recent books by Higgins, and that's for two reasons. First, the pointless and dull character Daniel Holley is reduced to brief appearances and mentions (so much the better). Second, Sean Dillon actually spends the book being active and not vanishing for long stretches as has been too often the case in these books. Higgins pairs Dillon again with Sara Gideon in this continent hopping yarn involving an Iranian scientist who doesn't want his work in the nuclear industry to fall into the wrong hands. Gideon's an interesting character, and perhaps an acknowledgment by Higgins that his choice several years ago to kill off Hannah Bernstein was a bad one. The ending works well, but I'd say it might be time for Higgins to call it a day. Lest he decide to write another book and have that pointless character Holley infest the whole thing yet again.

I've followed Sean's antics since the beginning but this episode is just a little boring. Still a worthwhile read.

If I could rate it lower I would. He just mailed it in on this book. The characters were weak, and he didn't go in depth about them at all, he could have, it would have made the book a lot more interesting, but he didn't.

The plot is weak, and all over the place, very convoluted.

Worst Higgins' book I have read in some time. Very disappointed.
