This was alright, it had some cute spots but I was a bit bothered by her weakness in the beginning.

Dissapointing. Lovely visuals, but it lacks the magic and heart of what we're used to from Studio Ghibli, with very little in the way of story to keep my interest.

Great debut from Ponoc! Great story! Don't listen to the other comments! Schools of witchcraft in stories are much older than Harry Potter, and this movie is not a Ghibli story but is similar. Fans of Ruth Chew and Ghibli's take on witchcraft classics will like it. The story is not like Kiki's Delivery Service. Give this movie a chance without loading up preconceived notions of what it is going to be like, and you will love it!

Hurry up and order it

Nice try, but it seems to borrow elements from the best Studio Ghibli films, mixed it with Harry Potter, and somehow ended up losing the heart at the core of both. The children are annoying, not charming, with cliched behaviors. Story started out well, but became predictable quite quickly. Go with Totoro or Kiki's Delivery Service instead.

Regular girl gets to go to witch school? It bugged me at first, feeling like something I’d seen before, but there’s a turn I did not expect and was delighted with where it eventually went. So worth seeing again!

The first offering from Studio Ghibli offshoot Studio Ponoc doesn't quite hit the mark, but messy storytelling can't totally overcome the Ghibli-esque charms in this one. And yet, the whole time I kept thinking, "I'd rather be watching Kiki's Delivery Service." Unlike Kiki's Delivery Service, Mary and the Witch's Flower is definitely not for all ages. It starts off sweet and fun and then abruptly ventures into Howl's Moving Castle territory (read: nightmare fuel for little kids). Definitely keep that in mind before showing it to your 5 year old.

Mary and the Witch's Flower didn't live up to my expectations, unlike most of the other Studio Ghibli movies which often meet or exceed them. It's by a team that used to be Studio Ghibli, so, of course, the movie is absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, that's really all it is. If you're looking for a movie that pays obvious homage to its predecessors, this is a movie for you. But it feels like a mish-mash of Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke, without any of the depth they have.

Gorgeously animated and incredibly imaginative, this is suitable for children of all ages as well as teens and adults who are fans of fantasy and Studio Ghibli films (the writer-director. producer, and many of the animators previously worked for Ghibli).

This is a great movie. It reminded me of Kiki's delivery service. I really enjoyed the cats Tib & Gib. This plot reminds me of Harry Potter a bit. In the credits it says it's based off of a children's story about a broom. Nonetheless, this is a great movie to watch for all ages.
