"LAPD Lieutenant Milo Sturgis is a fine homicide detective, but when he needs to get into the mind of a killer, he leans on the expertise of his best friend, the brilliant psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware. While Sturgis has a knack for piecing together thedetails of a crime, Delaware can decipher the darkest intents driving the most vicious of perpetrators. And there's no better place for the doctor's analytical skills to shine than a rowdy hall full of young men and women intoxicated on life and lust . .. and suddenly faced with the specter of death. Summoned to a run-down former strip joint, Delaware and Sturgis find themselves crashing a wild Saints and Sinners-themed wedding reception. But they're not the only uninvited guests. A horrified bridesmaidhas discovered the body of a young woman, dressed to impress in pricey haute couture and accessorized with a grisly red slash around her neck. What's missing is any means of identification, or a single partygoer who recognizes the victim. The baffled bride is convinced the stranger snuck in to sabotage her big day--and the groom is sure it's all a dreadful mistake. But Delaware and Sturgis have a hundred guests to question, and a sneaking suspicion that the motive for murder is personal. Now they must separate the sinners from the saints, the true from the false, and the secrets from those keeping them. The party's over--and the hunt for whoever killed it is on"--

A rare misfire but a misfire nonetheless. I've read every novel in the Alex Delaware/Milo Sturgis series and while one always has to suspend disbelief in these types of novels, this one defied suspension! The characters were not at all likeable (even in the "love to hate" descriptive sense) and the story line flat out preposterous (IMHO).

The only other novel that was this bad was "The Web" written back in 1996. Talk about implausible!! Anyway ... I won't give up on the series if he keeps writing them. I suspect he may be stretching himself a bit thin since he started co-writing novels with his son Jesse. Admirable, yes ... but at the expense of his best series? Not to me. Seems Alex/Milo and the rest of the gang have become afterthoughts ... and unfortunately ones that leave this reader craving the old Alex.

This is likely the worst book I have ever read. I had to renew it 2 times to finish it for book club.. Everything was over described. Finally I learned I could skim all descriptions and only read lines in "Quotation Marks" It was also written mostly in first person, with many lines beginning, I said, "- - -- - - etc.

4 stars. This is the 34th book in Kellerman's Alex Delaware series and it was a good read. LAPD Lieutenant Milo Sturgis is called in on the homicide of a beautiful young girl, strangled and posed at a wedding reception. The only problem is that although she is dressed to kill, no one at the wedding knows who she is. Alex is called in by Milo to consult and he and Milo work well as a team. After questioning all the guests and wedding party, there are a few hints to pursue and that leads Milo and Alex on the pursuit of clues that eventually lead them to the truth of who the mystery woman was but why she was killed. And when others start dying, they both have to use all their smarts to stay one step ahead of a killer who thinks he is too smart to be caught. A good read.

Love Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware novels. This one has so many threads running through it, it will leave your head spinning - in a good way. I always like the back-and-forth commentary between Alex and Milo, and in this one is some of the best yet - some erudite, and some subtly sarcastic, and some both. Half the book is taken up trying to identify a homicide victim and half trying to figure out the whodoneit part. Great read.

Another entertaining Alex Delaware novel. Another murder to solve, Sturgis and Dr. Delaware work together to hunt down the people responsible!

I used to love all Jonathan Kellerman's novels but they've become tedious in my opinion. I really don't care to read every detail of LA neighborhoods including the siding on the houses, what's planted in their yards and the never ending traffic patterns.
