"When she stumbles across the ad, she's looking for something else completely. But it seems like too good an opportunity to miss--a live-in nannying post, with a staggeringly generous salary. And when Rowan Caine arrives at Heatherbrae House, she is smitten--by the luxurious "smart" home fitted out with all modern conveniences, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands, and by this picture-perfect family. What she doesn't know is that she's stepping into a nightmare--one that will end with a child dead and herself in prison awaiting trial for murder. Writing to her lawyer from prison, she struggles to explain the unravelling events that led to her incarceration. It wasn't just the constant surveillance from the cameras installed around the house, or the malfunctioning technology that woke the household with booming music, or turned the lights off at the worst possible time. It wasn't just the girls, who turned out to be a far cry from the immaculately behaved model children she met at her interview. It wasn't even the way she was left alone for weeks at a time, with no adults around apart from the enigmatic handyman, Jack Grant. It was everything. She knows she's made mistakes. She admits that she lied to obtain the post, and that her behavior toward the children wasn't always ideal. She's not innocent, by any means. But, she maintains, she's not guilty--at least not of murder. Which means someone else is."-- Provided by publisher.

What a easy page turn.
Just a ripping story that didn't lose pace. I was trying to pick an ending while tearing through it but had no idea how it would pan out. The twists come left and right in the back end. A nice palate cleanser that prepares me for the behemoth novel that awaits.........4/5.

I started one of her other books long ago and couldn't read it. I read this book. It is bad. Characters are poorly drawn. The plot is sloppy. The only good thing is that it is an E book, at the library, and is free. I just finished What's Left Of Me Is Yours. That is a good book. The Turn Of The Key is not.

The best Ruth Ware title I've read!! I just loved it. The ending was terrible and terrific at the same time. What a gem!

One of my very favorite authors. I've read every one of her books.

An imperfect nanny, precocious unruly children, a heavy stepping ghost, betrayal and an isolated mansion..all the ingredients for a thriller. I was enjoying the story so much, I did not see the ending coming. I also enjoyed the method of reading the story through letters to a lawyer. I don't usually read this genre but I greatly enjoyed this book.

I love all of Ruth Ware's book, but this was one of my favorites. Although some didn't find the main character likeable, I believe she redeemed herself in the end. Usually I can see the final twist coming, but did not in this one! I loved reading about the aspects of having a "future home" as well, being a technology geek. Great book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this roller coaster of a book. Once you think you know what's going on, there's a twist, with a HUGE one at the end! If you enjoy psychological thrillers with a bit of a creep factor, I would definitely check this out!

Captivated from the beginning. Quick, and interesting mystery. The only thing I would change would be the book cover......by adding a beautiful landscape of the house and garden too....and then the key, maybe.....😏
