Hamilton has joined the growing ranks of authors who tell white knuckle suspenses with not exactly love triangles, but with one woman taking over the life, in a sense, of another. This one has a different twist to that triangle. As a matter of fact, it has a few different twists that keep the reader guessing throughout.

Why 2 stars? Well it's one of those primarily first person present tense books that I find read more like a junior high student whose first language is something other than English's first draft of a story that he or she didn't bother to have someone look over before they submitted it.

That aside, none of the characters are really likeable. I couldn't get a fix on Marie. Was she a victim or a perpetrator? And that wondering is part of the mystery, but it wasn't that well done. The writing was pretty weak in that respect. There are flashbacks in time but they weren't separated out all that well so you weren't sure if you were reading in the present day or not.

It was pretty much an okay story that left me feeling kind of meh. I hadn't read her first book, The Perfect Girlfriend and am undecided to whether or not I'll give it a chance.

It wasn't an awful read, just not the best I've read this year.
