Excellently researched and made into an absorbing story which reveals a great deal about the Vikings and their customs and those of the folk who lived in the orkney Islands. I subsequently read the sequel Foxmask and although it carried on with what happened, it was Wolfskin that kept my attention. There was more of fantasy in the second book but all relating to the myths and legends of that part of the world.

I loved every one of the Sevenwaters books but I found this book VERY slow to get interesting. Once I got almost half way thru it was mesmerzing!! Read all night. Juliet is deffinately a TRUE STORY TELLER. Ready toi get into Foxmask now.

I found this book even better than the Daughter of the Forest series and I can't wait to read Foxmask, the sequel.

Here's an author who is a true storyteller. I thought I couldn't keep reading after midnight but I had to force myself to turn off the light at about 4 am and couldn't wait to pick up the book to continue reading.

She is a marvelous writer and after reading some of the bestsellers, like The Travellers' Wife and The Lost Symbol, (totally disappointing to me), picking up Juliet's books it's like a breath of fresh air again.
