Good clean movie with a nice story line. It is funny if you like the John Wayne type of movies, I enjoyed it.

This is is awful ! ...when I got this NYPL disc home and put this movie in the DVD says: NOT FORMATTED FOR THIS REGION !!?? ( And it says "Region #1", on the DVD jacket !!?) I have watched a thousand other New York Public Library DVDs on my Panasonic Region 1 DVD Player,.. but this one makes it almost TWO DOZEN that have come up as NOT FORMATTED etc. !

I really wanted to see this one. And I had to wait for it.

WHY is the New York Public Library buying DVD's that are NOT FORMATTED to be viewed in this region ?

Has this happened to anyone else out there ??

Good – Donovan’s Reef (1963) 109 min. It was a pleasure to actually pop a movie into the DVD player and not be inundated with vulgarities and obscenities. Donovan’s Reef was made during a time when “going to the movies” was an escape from the regular pains of life. It’s filmed in gorgeous Hawaii and features the talents of John Wayne, Elizabeth Allen and Lee Marvin. The film is about a high society type (played by Allen) who invades the sedentary life style of Wayne and Marvin to some very funny moments. The only drawback experienced was an uneven script with some scenes dragging on more than they’re worth. But overall, enjoy a wholesome film for a change. Kudos to OPL for buying this one.
