This book was fascinating and definitely lived up to its billing. It is chock full of survival situations and practical tips on what a kids can do to extricate themselves from the problem or survive the event. Also included are neat little factoids like how to use your watch as a compass if you are lost in the mountains. I love the idea of kids being empowered to overcome an unwelcome situation rather than become a victim. One item not included was how to survive and Active Shooter situation -- most likely due to the fact that the book was published in 2011.

This is great book to check out for that elementary-age boy or girl who is fed up with reading. Also an ideal candidate for a book that a family could study together so they are all better equipped to survive a dangerous situation or calamity.

Such a fun and interesting book. My 5 & 7 year old boys LOVED reading this every night. And we all learned a few things!
