This is an old style 'boys own' novel, written after WWI and contains some sad prescience reflections about the unresolved conflicts that will lead to WWII. A fun plot but the author has some very 'politically incorrect' comments to make about other classes of Englishmen and other European nationalities. The forward by the late Christopher Hitchens [author of God is not Great] very much adds to the appreciation of this story and to an understanding of the author's personal culture and beliefs which percolate through an interesting adventure tale.
