Arctic Monkeys, Favourite Worst Nightmare, is a small album that hits hard. With only 12 songs, there is not much room to work with, but Alex Turners vocals and the bands fast and impactful playing really make it soar. Using brief moments of silence and letting the instruments have their own personal moments, every aspect works together to create some powerhouses of music. The Arctic Monkeys demonstrate a great knowledge of knowing how to work with different tempos for certain tones, but still hitting hard with a grain to their sound that is truly theirs. The album starts out amazingly fast, a strong start, but as you progress, they know how to slow it down, only to pick it back up and drive it home at the end. The album carries common themes of the night, mystery, and life experiences, my favourite tracks include Brianstorm, 505, and balaclava. 5/5

As a debut album, Billie really plays her strengths, a deep, guttural bass combined with delicately soft vocals, creates a feeling that is uniquely hers. There is a balance both upbeat and slower songs that round out the album well with a variety that made me not skip a single song. With little sound clips and direct recordings from the booths during production, makes the album incredibly fun to listen to, as you never know when you might hear something. My favourite songs to listen to include xanny and my strange addiction, and I’d give it an overall four out of five.

Cage The Elephant’s Melophobia has a grit and grain that hits hard. With its good kind of weird subject matter, you can’t help but bounce your head to its delivery especially with the strong build ups. The variety going from slow to fast to slow to fast again is like a musical whiplash, especially with pieces like cigarette daydreams and spiderhead having the chance to line in your queue. Melophobia, for an album that came out in 2013 holds it own very well even in a more recent musical climate to the point that I was not even aware of it. They have truly created a timeless album in this sense, and I will even add some songs to my personal playlists. Overall, I give Melophobia a 5/5!

Mr. Right is an upbeat take on dark comedy, with its interesting tone and character structure it is an enjoyable viewing experience with that keeps you engaged. Rockwell and Kendrick have an undeniable chemistry with a style of comedy that flows well with the two actor’s tones. The soundtrack is upbeat and fun and the movie as a whole is well directed, paced, and nice to look at. The way the movie balances the multiple plotlines is smooth and you don’t question the pre-established relationships of characters, and to see all the plots converge in the end, with all points covered, and all loose ends tied up, it provides a satisfying conclusion that doesn’t necessitate a sequel, and though I would love to see the two leads together again, I feel content with their story. 5/5

Truly a classic product of the 80’s, with a brilliant cast of characters that each have their own ideals and views. Winona Rider is compelling with her arc as Veronica that has a clear progression from the start to the end of the movie. And Christian Slater’s performance as JD is realistic with his character having ideals that are based on genuine reasons, though drifting towards radical at times for the sake of hating society. The clear escalation of events expresses the mental toll that the characters experience gives reason to each one of the actions that they commit, and to each one they regret, or if they regret it at all. Heathers is an exaggerated take on High School that has held up over the years with its opinions on cliques, jocks, the loners, and the popular kids, Heathers is a 5/5 film.
